Summary
The proposed design strategies are aimed at reinforcing High Streetıs
traditional Main Street character and creating a significant gateway to
the University District:
- New buildings form a strong continuous streetwall along High Street,
reinforcing the streetıs traditional character, integrating significant
existing facades, reinterpreting the existing material palette.
- Gateway Tower marks the heart of University Gateway Center and punctuates
this prominent gateway.
- The streetscape is animated by the retail restaurant and entertainment
uses facing High Street.
- Vital new public spaces will be a destination for The University community, animated by restaurants and cafes, open at all times.
University Gateway Center is an assemblage of buildings that fits comfortably
into the context of High Street, but that is innovative and exuberant,
signaling the vitality along High Street, exploring new approaches to
a reinvigorated "Main Street".
