People who live and work in the University District have many opportunities to participate in civic life and to contribute to and improve their neighborhoods. The University Community Association (UCA) is the membership-based civic group which serves the entire University District. UCA has membership meetings at least quarterly and an ice cream social each summer. For information on UCA and other civic organizations in the University District, visit the Civic Organizations page. The University Area Commission (UAC) is the official advisory body to Columbus city government from the University District. The majority of members is chosen through informal neighborhood elections, usually held in June. The UAC meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in room 100 of the Northwood-High Building, 2231 N. High Street. Its meetings are open to the public. The meetings of the University Area Safety Committee and the University District Public Service Committee are open to the public. New members are welcome.
