Free income tax assistance available at Godman Guild Low- and moderate-income, working families can
receive free income tax preparation services at Godman Guild Association, 303
E. Sixth Avenue, this winter.
Ohio State University Extension, in collaboration with the City of
Columbus, sponsors two Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites, one at
Godman Guild and the other at Ohio State’s African-American and African
Studies Community Extension Center, 905 Mt. Vernon Ave. Volunteer tax-preparers, including
students from Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business, last year served
more than 300 families at the two sites and helped them obtain more than
$600,000 in earned income and child tax credits. Both sites will operate on Fridays from 5 to 8
p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning January 25 through March
1. Families must call Godman
Guild at (614) 294-5476 for an appointment. Job Success prepares persons for employment Godman Guild Association, 303 E. Sixth Avenue, is
offering its Job Success program this winter and spring to low-income parents
who wish to learn interviewing skills, preparation of a resume, and other
employment readiness skills. Godman Guild assists with job placement upon
completion of the 30-hour per week, four-week program. Job Success is offered without charge and includes
child care. The enrollment dates
for the next four classes are February 4, March 10, April 7 and May 12. For more information, contact David

discussions of “green plan” The University Area Commission is sponsoring two
public discussions related to preparation of a “University Area
Neighborhood Green Plan” to address issues of conservation,
sustainability and environmental protection. UAC’s “green plan
charettes” on Wednesday, January 30, will focus on development and
transportation and on Thursday, January 31 will focus on natural resources
and recycling. Both discussions
will begin at 6:30 p.m. in room 100 of the Northwood-High Building, 2231 N.
High Street. For information,

5 The University District Code Enforcement Task
Force and the Campus Partners Public Service Committee will hold a joint
meeting on Tuesday, February 5, at 1:30 p.m. in room 100 of the Northwood-High
Building, 2231 N. High Street.
The public is welcome to attend. University District hosts free program on college
financial aid “College Goal Sunday” on February 10
is a free program to assist families to complete the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the form that is required to apply for federal
financial assistance for higher education opportunities. Godman Guild Association, 303 E. Sixth
Avenue, is one of three locations in Franklin County where families can
receive this help. The other
locations are DeVry University, 1350 Alum Creek Drive, and Westerville North
High School, 950 County Line Road. At all three locations, the “College Goal
Sunday” program will begin at 2 p.m. Families may register online for the
program at www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org. Families must bring tax returns and
other information to complete the FAFSA form. Information on what to bring is on the
