Free income tax assistance available at Godman Guild

Low- and moderate-income, working families can receive free income tax preparation services at Godman Guild Association, 303 E. Sixth Avenue, this winter.  Ohio State University Extension, in collaboration with the City of Columbus, sponsors two Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites, one at Godman Guild and the other at Ohio State’s African-American and African Studies Community Extension Center, 905 Mt. Vernon Ave.  Volunteer tax-preparers, including students from Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business, last year served more than 300 families at the two sites and helped them obtain more than $600,000 in earned income and child tax credits.

Both sites will operate on Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning January 25 through March 1.  Families must call Godman Guild at (614) 294-5476 for an appointment.
