REVISED DRAFT
Broad Street Management Portfolio Restructuring
Statement of Values
In our effort to accomplish the strategic restructuring of the Broad Street affordable housing portfolio, Campus Partners will be guided by the following core values:
The Broad Street Section 8 portfolio is a precious affordable housing asset for metropolitan Columbus that should be improved and preserved for generations to come.
To the maximum extent possible, no current resident who abides by the terms of the lease will be involuntarily displaced, although temporary relocation may be necessary to accommodate the proposed rehabilitation. In addition, we will attempt to provide current residents with choice in the ultimate location, amenities and supportive services which will be available to them as residents of the revitalized Broad Street portfolio.
The diversity and economic vitality of the neighborhoods within which the Broad Street portfolio is situated deserve careful consideration. We must improve the quality of the portfolios physical assets and operations, thereby contributing to the quality of life in Columbus urban neighborhoods. Further, we must leverage simultaneous investment, both public and private, in the educational, social and economic infrastructure of these vital urban neighborhoods.
Community-based organizations, both nonsectarian and faith-based, represent a critical leadership resource which must be mobilized in support of the proposed restructuring and preservation of the Broad Street portfolio.
The proposed investment in the Broad Street portfolios physical assets must be accompanied by a proportionate investment in strategic human services designed to empower residents and provide them with economic opportunity.
We will make residents of the Broad Street housing portfolio and residents of the neighborhoods within which they are situated, our partners in the design and implementation of the proposed restructuring.
All Columbus institutions, both public and private, have a vital interest in the successful restructuring of the Broad Street portfolio. Campus Partners interest in this regard is entirely consistent with our charitable purpose. Although we have a clear self-interest in the social and economic vitality of the neighborhoods we serve, we believe that our goals can be achieved without the permanent displacement of current residents or the loss of precious affordable housing resources for the City of Columbus.
