In the student neighborhood around Ohio State, improvements in municipal services and the public infrastructure have been accompanied over the past decade by significant investment in the privately managed housing stock. In 2008, Campus Partners directed a student housing study, commissioned by the University Community Business Association, which found that students were living in this neighborhood in numbers not seen since the 1980s and that the housing occupancy rate was over 99 percent.
Campus Partners joins with University District civic leaders in advocating for an increased level of homeownership in the University District. In an effort to achieve that goal, The Ohio State University in 1998 began its "Faculty and Staff Neighborhood Homeownership Incentive Program," which offers down-payment assistance to employees to purchase homes within the neighborhoods of the University District.
This homeownership incentive program is part of the larger initiative by the university to assist with the continuing revitalization of University District neighborhoods in cooperation with the City of Columbus, Campus Partners and neighborhood civic leaders.
